My creation is focused on how to paint, rather than what to paint. In visual relation to Minimalism and contextual relation to Formalism and Process Art, my work deals with pure forms of painting, such as predetermined materials and its support. I am greatly interested in investigating the materials by exploring how they react on the surface and how they interact with each other, letting the materials do what they do under natural forces. I usually do not want the materials to be forced to perform in one way or another, so I hesitate to use brushes. I let the materials flow and drip as I squeeze and pour them onto the surface and create organic shapes or patterns. This experimental and playful process is what drives me to create art because I am fascinated by how material can be used other than the ordinary way of their use.
